Statue of Sri Adi Sankara

A 5' feet high marble statue of Sri Sankara Bhagavadpadacharya in sitting posture has been installed at the northern side of the satsang mandap, opposite to Swami Vivekananda mandap.

Acharya Sankara has written "Yati Pancakam" a short poem with five stanzas describing a Sannyasin who is a Jeevanmukta, constantly and naturally abiding in the Bliss of Atman. In the fourth pada of each of the five slokas, He exclaims "Fortunate indeed are such Sannyasins wearing only a loin cloth!".

It is being proposed to install a separate board with inscription of "Yati Pancakam" inside the mandap.

"vedantavakyesu sada ramanto
bhiksannamatrena ca tustimantah,
 visokamantah-karane corantah
 kaupinavantah khalu bhagyavanta"
. - Yati Pancakam (Sloka 1)
